The small town of Greensburg, Kansas was nearly completely destroyed after a mile-wide tornado and winds of 165 mph tore through the area, killing 12 people. Some 90 percent of Grennsburg's homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed in the vicious storm. An American flag is displayed amid the wreckage and debris left in the wake of the tornado.
