Horizons For Homeless Children
Aug 31, 2011
Nichole Adams and her 2 year-old daughter, Khani, were among the One in fifty Americans who experience homelessness each year. Nichole lived in a rooming house and could no longer afford rent, even with her minimum wage job. She ended up in a shelter and was referred to Horizons for Homeless Children's preschool program for her daughter, Khani. Growing scientific evidence show that preschool homeless children are at risk for not developing crucial cognitive and brain development that occurs during this period in their lives. Programs like Horizons for Homeless Children (HHC) work at providing these children with a safe, play, and educational environment to promote that development.
